Say Goodbye to Leaky Showers—Guaranteed!

Expert shower repairs with multiple options, all backed by a an industry-leading warranty.

Is Your Shower Leaking? Here’s Why You Can’t Afford to Wait

It may seem like a minor inconvenience, but a leaky shower can lead to major problems that spiral out of control if left untreated. Here are the warning signs that you have a leak in your shower:

  • Missing grout
  • Cracked, loose or drummy tiles
  • Mould or damp smells
  • Discolouration or peeling paint
  • Calcium deposits called efflorescence

Ignoring these issues can compromise your shower’s waterproofing, and once that happens, there’s no going back without removing the tiles.
The result? Costly, time-consuming repairs. Worse, if you’re planning to sell your home, it could fail building inspections and drastically lower your property value.

Think about it—wouldn’t you invest to ensure your home’s value is protected?

Even more alarming, some professionals cut corners by simply degrouting and regrouting, failing to address the underlying problems. If they aren’t qualified tilers, they may miss hidden damage beneath the tiles, forcing you to pay even more for repairs down the line.

At Allspex Tiling, we specialise in wet areas, using advanced products and methods to fully resolve leaks the right way. If you have a leaky shower, don’t settle for quick fixes when there’s water involved! Trust the experts who know exactly what’s going on beneath your tiles.

FAQ’s

Do you need to inspect my shower before repairing it?2024-12-06T07:38:29+00:00

First, we ask for photos. In many cases, we can spot signs of compromised waterproofing just from the images. If more information is needed, we send out a technician to inspect the grout and take a moisture meter reading to assess the full extent of the issue.

What repair options are there for a leaky shower?2024-12-06T07:38:36+00:00

We offer a range of shower repair solutions, including epoxy sealing, a floor and first row retile and a full shower retile including walls. We also assess the timber underneath the tiles once removed and can repair rotten subfloor or non-structural wall timbers if needed.

How much does a shower repair cost?2024-12-06T07:38:47+00:00

Costs depend on the scope, whether it’s sealing, retiling, or more extensive repairs. We provide a detailed estimate based on your shower’s condition and its size. Showers involve a lot of complex work in a small area so we cannot price per m2.

How do I know if tiles need to be removed for a leak?2024-12-06T07:38:54+00:00

If waterproofing is compromised, a seal won’t hold, and tiles must be removed to reapply the waterproofing membrane. Signs of compromise include cracked, loose, or drummy tiles, mould, discolouration, odour, or water dripping under the floor. Sometimes these signs aren’t visible, but once we remove grout to attempt a seal, we can uncover underlying waterproofing issues that then require tile removal for proper repair.

I’ve been told a seal will be enough, and I can’t afford a rip-up. What should I do?2024-10-28T07:18:48+00:00

Sealing may seem like a quick fix, but if the waterproofing is compromised, it’s only a short-term solution that could cost you much more in the long run. If there is evidence of waterproofing failure, any company offering a seal with a warranty is misleading you, and unfortunately we get a lot of calls from these homeowners. Retiling is the only way to ensure a permanent repair. When it comes to the overall resale value of your property, you can’t afford NOT to fix it right the first time.

Why are there cheaper operators?2024-12-06T07:37:39+00:00

Make sure you know what they are really offering in their service. Cheaper operators often don’t know what is happening underneath the tiles and cut corners to get out of the job quicker. Always verify whether they are qualified tilers or just working under a company’s license. Most do not offer the same 10-15 year warranties we provide or research the best materials suited for long-term repairs.

Do you remove shower screens during repairs?2024-12-06T07:37:48+00:00

Yes, we remove the shower screen to properly seal underneath and ensure no leaks—something many other companies skip and is often a major source of leaks. Unlike other operators who won’t refit shower screens due to lack of experience, we attempt to reinstall them. This is a unique service we offer, saving you the cost of hiring a separate contractor or replacing the screen altogether. Our expertise ensures your shower is fully sealed and your existing screen is retained where possible.

What makes an epoxy seal better than regular grout?2024-12-06T07:38:00+00:00

Epoxy is highly durable, waterproof, and resistant to mould and staining. It creates a stronger bond, particularly in wet areas like showers, providing a longer-lasting seal. While regular grout can break down over time, our specially sourced FlexiShield™ ensures a watertight barrier, easier to clean and up to 15 years warranty.

What kind of warranty do you offer for shower repairs?2024-12-06T07:38:08+00:00

We provide a 10-year warranty on floor and first row retiling and a 15 year warranty for a full shower retile and bathroom renovation. For seals, the warranty we can offer can only be determined once we arrive onsite and can perform a more invasive inspection underneath the tiles.

Should I stop using my shower, and when can I use it again?2024-12-06T07:38:21+00:00

Yes, stop using your shower at least 12 hours before our arrival and for 12 hours after the work is done to allow the sealant to fully cure.
