SYDNEY WATER FEATURE TRANSFORMATION WITH ABORIGINAL ART

A Fusion of Art and Functionality in Water Feature Tiling

THE OPPORTUNITY

Our expertise was sought by a renowned tiling shop tasked with a unique project within a distinguished building complex in Sydney, a bustling nexus of business and residential life. Despite their team of skilled tilers, the shop required our specialized knowledge in water feature tiling—a niche that our two decades of pool tiling experience perfectly matched.

THE TASK

The project called for the integration of specially-designed Aboriginal art into the entryway’s water feature, using hand-made tiles. This ambitious installation included six separate ponds, each demanding meticulous tile selection and spacing to capture the essence of the artwork and ensure seamless incorporation into the water feature’s design.

THE CHALLENGE

Water features, by their nature, introduce complexities beyond those typically encountered in pool tiling. This particular installation involved a multi-level water feature, combining various types of hand-made tiles in a design that required exacting precision. The intricacy of ensuring a flawless water flow across different levels meant that even the slightest misalignment—a mere finger-width—could disrupt the water feature’s functionality.

THE OUTCOME

Successfully navigating the intricate requirements of this project was a testament to our team’s dedication and skill. The completion of this water feature, adorned with Aboriginal art and set at the heart of one of Sydney’s prime locations, stands as a source of immense pride for our team. It’s not just a functional piece but a work of art, admired by countless individuals who pass by, showcasing our contribution to enriching Sydney’s architectural heritage.
